Your doctor can do a variety of medical examinations for example Employment, Life Insurance and Driving Medicals. Many of these medicals are not covered by the NHS and in which case a charge is made in accordance with rates recommended by the British Medical Association. Sometimes the company requesting the medical will pay for the report but if uncertain please enquire before coming for the medical.
A variety of information is available at the health centre and on this site via the links about healthy living as well as information on specific illnesses. We have regular displays in the main waiting room to promote specific issues such as Smoking Cessation but there are also many leaflets available in the corridors outside the nurses' rooms. If you require any specific information please ask at reception.
Any patient who has not been seen for three years can make a ‘Well Person’ appointment. The nurses will be happy to check your blood pressure, weight, urine and answer any specific queries.
Regular clinics are also offered to patients who have ongoing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or asthma.
All patients over the age of fourteen are welcome to make an appointment to meet their new doctor. This is particularly important if you have one or more ongoing illnesses or are on regular medication.
The Health Visitors are happy to see pre-school children and will be able to carry out growth and developmental checks as well as answer any specific queries.
