Our practice nurses offer a comprehensive travel advice and vaccination service.
Please remember to book well in advance of your holiday as often immunizations need to be given a few months beforehand to be effective and may need to be spaced out if multiple doses are needed. Some vaccinations are available free on the NHS while others need to be paid for. Please enquire at reception if uncertain.
- Allow at least 6 weeks prior to travelling.
- Bring with you any vaccine record cards that you may have.
- Ensure you know the exact duration of your holiday and your itinerary. This is so antimalarial needs can be planned.
- We recommend using Fit For Travel to look up your travel itinary, then printing off the relevant pages of information, bringing them with you when you come to see the nurse.
- Do not travel without insurance.
- If travelling within the EU, ensure you have a free European Health Insurance card. This will ensure you have free or reduced cost emergency care (does not replace travel insurance).
- The number for Emergency Services in any EU country is 112.
- Register with the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) – LOCATE. This will enable Embassy staff and crisis staff to assist you in an emergency such as terrorist attack or tsunami.
- Always book accommodation for your first night away as a minimum.
- Scan a copy of your passport and yellow fever certificate and email it to yourself.
