Flu Vaccine Update
We are very pleased to announce that we have begun inviting patients to book into our flu vaccination clinics.
- If a patient has text message consent on their record in the practice, they will receive their invite to book via text.
- If a patient has email consent on their record, they will receive their invite to book via email.
- If a patient does not have text message or email consent, they will receive a letter in the post inviting them to book by phoning the practice.
The COVID-19 booster may be offered to eligible patients when they attend for their flu vaccination. This booster vaccine will be offered to those who are eligible and who received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago, or those who had their 2nd dose on or before 9th April.
If you receive an invite from the National Booking Service to book your COVID-19 booster vaccination at one of the mass vaccination sites BEFORE you receive an invite to attend the practice, please book via that method and attend the site nearest to you
Patients who are eligible for the flu vaccine are:
- All children aged 2—3 years, and 2—18 years who are classified as ‘at risk’. The remainder of children will be offered the flu vaccination by their school.
- are 50 and over (including those who'll be 50 by 31 March 2022)
- have certain health conditions
- are pregnant
- are in long-stay residential care
- receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
- live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
- frontline health or social care workers
When attending for your appointment, we kindly ask that all patients wear a face covering, and maintain social distancing. The practice car park will be reserved for patients with limited mobility, or blue badge holders only. For all other patients who will be driving to the practice, please park in either the Sainsburys car park—which is free for up to 2 hours—or the Land of Canaan car park, which charges a small amount.
Please arrive on-time for your appointment, and not too early as we are still limiting the amount of people we have in the practice.
We are reaching capacity with the face-to-face and telephone consultation services we are able to offer.
We kindly ask that you only contact the practice for an appointment today if you really need to. Where possible, please accept our receptionists guidance of booking a routine appointment, which can sometimes be 2-6 weeks ahead.
We are not, and never have been, an urgent treatment centre.
For anything that cannot wait the above period of time, please contact one of the following services:
- our online eConsult service with which you will receive a response by the end of the following working day, or 3 days if it is an administrative query
- NHS 111
- NHS 111 Online
- your local pharmacy, with pharmacists trained in dealing with minor illnesses and ailments
- Minor Injury Unit (MIU) for any minor injury which has occurred within 48 hours
- in an EMERGENCY, please dial 999.
Our staff are working hard and doing the best they can with the resources available so please be patient with us at this time.

Update to our Online eConsultation Service
eConsults can be submitted between 8:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
If you have an URGENT problem outside of these hours, please dial 1-1-1 for the NHS 111 Service.
In an EMERGENCY, please dial 999.
If you had your 1st Pfizer COVID vaccination before the 27th of February 2021, or your 1st Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination at the practice before the 27th of March, and are yet to receive your 2nd vaccination, you will now be required to contact the National Booking Service to arrange your appointment. At Coleridge Medical Centre we have now come to the end of our allocation to be able to offer 2nd doses of the Pfizer vaccination and the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination, and we will no longer be contacting patients to make an appointment for them.
Please do not worry! If you are due your 2nd Pfizer vaccination or 2nd Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination, and you were unable to attend the dates we had offered, please contact either the National Booking Service online or by dialling 119, who will assist you in getting an appointment at one of the Mass Vaccination sites.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status
From 17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of any approved vaccine. Vaccine status will be available from:
the NHS App which you can download from app stores
It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified so you can use this service.
If you cannot access this online service, and you have had 2 vaccines, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel abroad in the near future and have had your second dose more than 5 working days ago. It may take 7 working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status.
When you're planning your travel, check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is time to get proof of your vaccination status before you leave.

We are a friendly and welcoming GP practice located in the historic market town of Ottery St Mary. We look after approximately 16,000 patients who live in Ottery and the surrounding villages.
We are open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). You can speak to a Patient Services Adviser on the telephone between 08:30 to 13:30 and 14:00 to 18:00. For face to face enquiries you can call in between 08:00 and 18:30.

Ottery St Mary Medical Trust Fund
Established in 1990, the Ottery St Mary Medical Trust has enabled the Coleridge Medical Centre to remain at the cutting edge of general medical practice.
As the demands on the NHS increase, the generosity of those who have donated to, fundraised for, or left a gift in their will to the Trust, has enabled the GP Partners at the Medical Centre to enhance the care provided to our patients. The Trust has invested the funds received in equipment and services which otherwise would not have been funded by the NHS.
The gifts the Trust receives are an acknowledgement of the care the practice delivers to the community. It is, therefore, fitting that the funds help us provide an even better service for Ottery St Mary and the surrounding villages.
The GP Partners, as Trustees, welcome and will consider all requests and suggestions for purchases that will benefit patients and users of the Medical Centre. The Trust is regulated by the Charity Commission and all purchases must meet the criteria set out in the Trust Deed.
