The Coleridge Medical Centre is actively involved in research governed by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), we are part of the South West Peninsula Clinical Research Network (CRNSW).

As a practice we are pleased to be actively involved in research that helps find the answers to important medical questions.  This in turn shapes better care in general practice and in the NHS as a whole.  Our practice aims to improve the knowledge about illness and help develop better treatments and outcomes for all and will continue to offer a range of opportunities to our patients to participate in medical research that is of high quality, ethically approved and relevant.

Your doctor or nurse may ask if you wish to be involved in a research study that the practice is taking part in.  You are under not obligation to do so and if you decline this will not affect your treatment in any way.  We try to keep everyone up to date with our studies so please take a look at our website and at the notice boards in the surgery and inform reception if you are interested in taking part.

Anonymised patient data may be used for research that is in the best interest of patients and the NHS.  This is sometimes requested by the Department of Health or National Research Teams to gain an understanding of illness and medicine on a national level.  If you do not want to participate in any research please write to the practice manager.
